The birth of a dragonfly

I was recently in the right place at the right time to see and photograph ‘the birth’ of a dragonfly.

I have put a number of photos behind each other so that you get an idea of the process. I was quite surprised by the whole event and had no tripod with me. The sun was also quite strong for macro photography. So not a smooth time lapse, but if you have not seen it before it is nevertheless fascinating.

From the moment the dragonfly bursts out of its skin until it is completely out, took a half an hour. From that moment until the wings are transparent and lying flat and spread on his back, it took about an hour. Below a photo of the dragonfly in full-grown form.
