I recently spent two weeks working on my street photography in and around Barcelona. Photographing in a relatively unknown location requires flexibility and adaptation. I did hope for the cooperation of the Spanish sun, but as fate would have it the sun stayed in the Netherlands this time. The temperature was great for walking around exploring the busy city. However, I wasn’t so happy with the poor diffuse light, which seemed to flatten everything. To move away from feeling like a photo tourist, I mainly looked for a degree of abstraction, something that I’ve become increasingly interested in.
